Most large domestic mud circulating solids control system manufacturing companies can design and manufacture cyclone desander and mud desilter, namely solid control cyclone. Solid control cyclone's performance is mainly separation degree of particles, that is D50, the lower the D50, solid control cyclone separator function better. Quality index of solid control cyclone is mainly abrasion,KOSUN solids control cyclone is made of polyurethane or high chromium cast iron,it has long service life. In desander, mud desilter configuration,we need to notice not only it must have a certain distance range of particles separation, but also have some overlap.

According to the group standard and separation size of solids control cyclone , cylindrical volute diameter is 10 "or 12", the separation of solids control particle size of 74-44μm cyclone cyclone are desander; inner diameter of the cylindrical volute is 4 "or 5", the separation of solids control particle size of 44-15μm cyclone is mud desilter.
 

However,actually many desander and mud desilter are similar separation size (cyclone desander for 20-50μm, mud desilter for 45-15μm) in the drilling site, drilling fluid handled by the cyclone desander also treated by mud desilter, resulting mud desilter can't realize the function of removing solid particle. The main reason causing the above phenomenon is the manufacturing level of cyclone cannot meet the requirements, and the effect drilling can't meet the drilling technology requirements,too. So many users choose two cyclone desander instead of the matching program of 1 cyclone desanding and 1 mud desilter.

Some users only simply install the second desander in the place for mud desilter, the will not change. This method process is inadvisable, since the two sets cyclone desander's performance parameters is same,we should adopt the parallel process, as the spare for each other,or increasing the drilling fluid's handling capacity in the fast drilling. But for the high performance requirements of drilling wells, the reasonable matching program is still matching a cyclone desander and mud desilter, using them in series.

In selecting desander and mud desilter,we should select different products with different particle size, such as desander separation size range is 40-60μm, mud desilter separated particle size is 15-45μm, so that we can achieve better the treatment effect.
